Ok, we know that Jay-Z seems to have
that Midas touch and now we also realize his golden world keeps getting shinier.
Samsung purchased 1 million copies of the artist’s last album to give it away
for free to their customers in advance.
Just like that, Jay-Z gets a head start of
1 million sales, long before the album hits the stores, and becomes 5 million
dollars (each album was sold for $5) wealthier. On the other side, Samsung strengthens
the brand positioning and goodwill, especially among the younger clients.
History is being done as Magna Carta Holy Grail is the first
full-length album to be exclusively premiered by a brand. Game changer in the record
industry? Surely seems so both for brands
and artists.
